Dreambert and Bedsmith, two beings of the Pi’illo species, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they came to be. They find themselves in a strange house in an unfamiliar city, feeling lost and confused. As the panic begins, a strange man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He assumes they may have passed out while watching TV last night, but before he can explain more, the situation gets even stranger. A being named Starlow, of the Star Sprite species, arrives and insists that he is their friend. He says they had plans to hang out, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of him or any such plans. They reluctantly follow Starlow outside, unsure of their surroundings. They wander around the city, pretending not to recognize either their surroundings or Starlow. Despite his confusion, Starlow continues to communicate with them as if they have been friends for a long time. As he shows them around, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and their names, trying to reassure them. But Dreambert and Bedsmith remain confused and unable to understand their past or their relationship to Starlow. As the day goes on, Starlow becomes increasingly concerned, and at first thinks they are just pretending to forget. But as their strange behavior continues, he begins to worry that something is seriously wrong with their memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty grows, and he wonders if there is something else behind their forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith go back to the house where they first woke up, and Wonky, still claiming to be their father, provides them with a seemingly unfamiliar bed. Too tired and confused to protest, they go to bed for the night. As they fall asleep, their minds are filled with questions about their identities, their pasts, and the cause of their sudden amnesia. The mystery of their lost memories remains unanswered as they drift into a restless sleep, unsure of what the future holds.
